What The Press Say

The musical adviser of The Tolkien Estate, Oxford:
I find this the most interesting and exiting work. It reveals a close sympathy with the original work and a remarkable ability to vary the music not only in relation to the different styles and moods of the poems but also in relation to the different characters from whom the poems come.

Classic CD: ****4444
In the right magical spirit to please Tolkien admirers. Highly persuasive and splendidly performed.

The Tolkien Society, Oxford:
This one is a beaut, a major favourite!

Berlingske Tidende:
Caspar Reiff's and Peter Hall's music lives its own Archaic tune-inspired life, that surrounds the texts and their Universe beautifully, with humour and brio . With highlights of great beauty such as the Elven Queen Galadriel's songs, and of wonderful humour of Peter Halls hobbit-tunes. I am looking forward to hearing them again!

Jyllands Posten: *****
... above all Peter Hall and Caspar Reiff deserve compliments for their well-composed music, mainly in minor, with lots of laments and filled with a sorrowful beauty. Sublime vocal achievements ...

Musikeren (The Musician):
Anyone, who has read The Lord of the Rings, will love this musical-interpretation ...

Jydske Vestkysten:
This is how its supposed to be!

Information:
The publication, with the title A Night in Rivendell, is in all details true to the book.

Ekstra Bladet: ****
It is pretty and mysterious, in sorrowful minor, with hints of the Middle-ages and everything is done with high, well at times stunning, respect for the texts.

Jydske Vestkysten:
The Lord of the Rings gets life in a new and exciting way, and in full conformity with Tolkien.

The Danish Tolkien Society, Søren Aabyen:
Rarely have I been so attracted to any music. This is no less than genius!

Amazon.com, Richard Reilly: *****
Wonderful! I bought this CD unsure what to expect, and was delighted at what I heard. It is easy to imagine that this is the way the music of Middle-earth might have actually sounded. Tolkiens lyrics are set to enchanting music, full of sadness and longing (except of course for the cheerful songs of Tom Bombadil and the Hobbits, which are also excellent).

Amazon.com, Peter Edelberg: *****
Superb Tolkien music. This is definately the best musical interpretation of Tolkiens songs I have ever heard.

Amazon.com, Jacob Murrow: *****
The Ensembles work on this CD (An Evening in Rivendell) is excellent. It earns high praise ...

Amazon.com, Thene Elrond *****
Wow! This is the best Tolkien CD I have ever listened to ... and it is probably my absolute favorite out of all my CDs. I heartily recommend it to ANYONE even if they have no idea who Tolkien is!

Kristeligt Dagblad:
... calm and atmospheric singing to soft music from guitar, double-bass, violin and mandolin.
... a refreshing and different record to listen to.

Tolkien Online:
The Tolkien Ensembles music has to be the most beautiful presentation of the poems from The Lord of the Rings. They have done a marvellous job translating what was written as poetry and prose into music. This CD should be purchased and enjoyed by Tolkien Fans everywhere.

One Ring:
A wonderful musical background while reading Tolkien's masterpiece.

Ekstra Bladet: ****
Reiff and Hall's interpretation is a very succesful meeting with the classical tradition and folkish inspirations ...
